Triple award-winner Katie Davies celebrates success at the 2023 HWGTA awards with fellow former Sanctuary apprentices Elina Rizos and Jacob Davies

One of our former Sanctuary apprentices has seen her talent and dedication recognised with a hat-trick of top awards.

Katie Davies is celebrating after being named Intermediate Apprentice of the Year at the Worcestershire Apprenticeship Awards, as well as winning the Level Two Commerce Apprentice of the Year at the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Group Training Association (HWGTA) awards.

These latest successes come after Katie was named Intermediate Apprentice of the Year at the West Midlands regional finals of the National Apprenticeship Awards earlier this year.

Katie, who now works with us as a resourcing planner after successfully completing her customer service apprenticeship, said: “I’m so proud to win these awards and I’d like to say the biggest thank you to Sanctuary and everyone who has supported me during my apprenticeship.

“Choosing this apprenticeship was one of the best decisions I ever made. It’s been incredibly rewarding. I’m proud of how my career is progressing and excited to see what comes next.”

The recent awards ceremonies brought several other successes for members of our Sanctuary team.

At the Worcestershire Apprenticeship Awards, Michelle Wood, our Group Head of Learning and Development, was named Apprentice Ambassador of the Year, and Matthew Wright was a finalist in the Higher Apprentice of the Year category.

Meanwhile at the HWGTA awards, Elina Rizos won the Excellence in Accountancy award and Jacob Davies was a finalist in the same category.

Elina, Jacob and Matthew have all also secured permanent roles at Sanctuary after successfully completing their apprenticeships with us, and their successes recognise their talent and dedication in the workplace, as well as their commitment to championing apprenticeships to others.

Michelle Wood, whose own award reflects her longstanding commitment to supporting and promoting apprenticeships, said: “We’re huge believers in apprenticeships at Sanctuary and recognise the opportunities they provide for individuals to achieve their ambitions, as well as the value they add for employers.

“I’d like to say a huge well done to all of our fantastic award winners and nominees for their well-deserved success.”

Sanctuary’s national apprenticeship programme was established in 2008 and has since supported more than 2,000 people into work, both directly and indirectly through development partners.

Apprentices work in a variety of business areas, including finance, IT, housing, business and administration and health and social care, gaining valuable workplace experience while studying for practical qualifications alongside their day-to-day role.
