ASB Case Review

Please note, this only applies in England and does not apply in Scotland.
(formerly known as the Community Trigger)

On this page

If you’ve reported antisocial behaviour (ASB) several times and feel that not enough has been done to resolve the issue, you may be able to request an ASB Case Review. This process brings together the Police, Local Authority and us as your housing provider, to look at how your reports have been handled and whether further action is needed.

The ASB Case Review is designed to make sure your concerns have been properly addressed and that all agencies are working together to support you.

What is an ASB Case Review?

An ASB Case Review is a formal process set out in the Anti‑social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014.

You can request a review when you feel repeated ASB reports have not resulted in adequate action.

The Review:

  • looks at the steps taken by each agency so far

  • ensures your reports have been dealt with appropriately

  • identifies whether further action should be taken

How do I request an ASB Case Review?

  1. Visit your local authority’s website

  1. Search for ASB Case Review or Community Trigger

  1. Complete the online form or contact the listed team

  1. If you’re not sure where to start, contact us and we can direct you to your local team.

Most ASB Case Reviews are managed by your local authority, although in some areas the process is coordinated by the police and crime commissioner.

Does this affect my right to complain?

No. Requesting an ASB Case Review does not affect your right to:

  1. Make a complaint to us about how we handled your ASB reports
  2. Use our internal ASB and complaints processes

Both can run at the same time if needed.

It’s important to know that an ASB Case Review is not a complaints process.

It is a multi‑agency review of the actions taken so far. The aim is to see what else can be done to resolve the ASB.
