Sanctuary named strategic partner under Government’s Social and Affordable Homes Programme

Sanctuary has been selected as a strategic partner under Homes England's £39 billion Social and Affordable Homes Programme.

Sanctuary will receive £350 million in grant funding through the programme, supporting its development ambitions and strengthening its ability to build more high-quality social and affordable homes in communities across the country over the next 10 years.

As one of the UK's largest housing associations, Sanctuary is committed to playing its part in tackling the national housing shortage and helping meet growing demand for good-quality new affordable homes.

Craig Moule, Sanctuary’s Group Chief Executive, said: "The Government has responded to the urgent need for more good-quality social and affordable homes and this significant long-term investment provides the certainty needed for our sector to make an even greater contribution.

“We recognise our responsibility to do all we can to help address the housing crisis. This funding will enable us to deliver a range of high-quality homes, of which more than 60% will be homes for social rent, helping more people access safe, secure and affordable places to live.

“We are committed to supporting the Government's housebuilding ambitions and look forward to continuing our strong partnership with Homes England and local authorities to deliver new homes and sustainable communities where they are needed most."

The announcement follows the Government's commitment to invest £39 billion in social and affordable housing over the next decade, providing long-term certainty for the sector and supporting increased housebuilding across England.
