We’re holding two special events to share our proposals for the Laindon centre regeneration with the local community.

The drop-in consultation events will be taking place on Wednesday 6 December, between 1.30-4pm at Laindon Community Centre and from 7-9pm at Paddocks Community Hall.

Laindon residents are welcome to drop in at any time during the sessions to view the plans, meet members of the Sanctuary project team, and share their thoughts on the proposals.

Sanctuary announced in March it was working with Swan Housing Association to deliver the Laindon centre regeneration. This followed Sanctuary’s takeover of Swan earlier in the year.

The detailed proposals that will be on display at the December consultation events have incorporated feedback from two previous community events held in July, which almost 500 local people attended.

The proposed regeneration will deliver new, high-quality affordable housing, local shops including a larger Lidl supermarket and units for local retailers, and an option for an improved medical centre, as well as managed parking and a fitting setting for the war memorial and historic Laindon fountain.

Sarah Brind, our Head of Development – South, said: “We know how important this project is for the area and the wider borough of Basildon, and we’re progressing it as quickly as we can to deliver a vibrant new town centre for Laindon.

“We’re really looking forward to meeting the local community again to share our proposals for the site and listen to their views.”

Anyone who is unable to attend the consultation events will be able to view the proposals and share their feedback online from Thursday 7 December until Friday 22 December.
