Young people from Hackney Youth Club have spent a fun-packed and memorable weekend at Paddington Farm, in Glastonbury, North Somerset.

Paddington Farm Trust is a registered charity that was set up to offer enriching rural experiences to those who might not otherwise have access to the countryside.

Housing provider Sanctuary, which is delivering 133 new homes at its nearby Kingsfield development in Glastonbury, worked with contractor EQUANS – part of the Engie Group – to fund a new kitchen for use by groups visiting the farm through its MORE! programme.

In return Paddington Farm was asked to accommodate a visit by Hackney Youth Club, who have had a strong relationship with Sanctuary for many years. The members of the youth club also enjoyed a special delivery of pizzas as weekend treat.

Tiffany Kearton, from Paddington Farm Trust, said: “By introducing young people to new and exciting experiences, including farm activities, campfire cooking, vegetable growing and meeting farm animals, we hope to build a lifelong love for the countryside and a better understanding of where food comes from.”

Nicolette Nixon, who leads the club, commented: “We had the most amazing time at Paddington Farm. The young people who attended had the best time and I’ve not stopped laughing. Thank you to everyone involved for arranging the trip. It was one of the best things we’ve ever done.”

We would like to thank Paddington Farm for sharing their space and giving the young people of Hackney Youth Club such a great experience. It is great to hear how much everyone enjoyed it.
