A new housing development of 13 homes has been completed in the Surrey village of Merstham.

The Gatton Grove scheme has been developed by Sanctuary on School Hill near the centre of the village. It is named after the local Gatton Park beauty spot, which is just a short walk from the new homes.

Built on the site of a former care home, the development offers a selection of two and three-bedroom houses, alongside some two-bedroom apartments. All 13 homes have been made available to purchase through Shared Ownership.

Construction of the homes was carried out by Sanctuary’s appointed contractor Westridge.

Sanctuary’s head of development (south), Sarah Brind, said: “We are delighted to have delivered these affordable homes. We’re confident we’ve made best use of the site and are offering something that’s really needed by local people, including families and first-time buyers.”

As part of the project, Sanctuary has funded a local butterfly conservation project with the Surrey Wildlife Trust and built bug hotels at three local primary schools. It has also contributed to Reigate and Banstead playground equipment and created two ‘little libraries’ for local booklovers to enjoy.
