Shared ownership property and pay fair rent

Phase Two - October 2025

Update on the proposed sale of shared ownership properties

Thank you to everyone who shared feedback during the first phase of our consultation. We really appreciate the time you took to tell us what matters most to you.

If you raised a specific point about your individual situation, we have been in touch directly.

Overall, you asked questions about expectations of a future landlord. We can reassure you any landlord we sell your property to must be registered with the Regulator of Social Housing and comply with the same regulations we do.

We’re moving ahead with the next phase of the consultation. We’re now able to confirm the landlord and managing agent we’re proposing for your home.

  • The new landlord is proposed to be MTD Housing

  • The managing agent is proposed to be Pinnacle Affordable Homes

About MTD and Pinnacle Affordable Homes

MTD Housing is a registered social housing provider supported by the Pears Foundation. They focus on providing good quality, affordable homes and are committed to being a reliable landlord that puts residents first.

Pinnacle Affordable Homes (part of the Pinnacle Group) recently joined Hyde Group, strengthening their ability to deliver excellent housing services. With over 30 years of experience in managing homes, Pinnacle is known for putting customers at the heart of what they do. They’ll be responsible for the day-to-day running of your home.

We’re proposing to choose these organisations because they share our values and are committed to putting customers first. As they’re both registered with the Regulator of Social Housing, they must meet the same standards we do.

What does this mean for you?

The share of your home that you own won’t change. You’ll continue to pay fair rent on the part you don’t own, but this will now be paid to MTD Housing. Your rights will stay the same, including the option to buy 100% of your home in the future. Your home will remain part of the regulated social housing sector.

What does this mean for you?

This would mean the freehold of your property would no longer be owned by Sanctuary and you would pay ground rent to the new landlord. Your rights would remain unchanged. Your home will remain part of the regulated social housing sector.
