What is an annual gas service?

If you rent your home from us, we have a legal responsibility to check any gas appliances that we provide to make sure they are safe. One of our Gas Safe registered engineers will come to your home once a year to complete a free gas safety check.

This is a legal requirement so you’ll need to make sure we can access your home for the appointment. When we come to your home we’ll be as thorough as we can by checking all of your flues, chimneys, appliances and gas piping.

What steps do we take to complete the gas safety check?

  1. We will contact you two months before your gas safety check is due to arrange an appointment. We will aim wherever possible to offer an appointment that is convenient to you.

  2. Our qualified Gas Safe engineer will visit you on the day of your appointment to complete the safety checks. It should take no longer than one hour to complete.

  3. If we find any issues or repairs that need completing as part of your visit, we will aim to book these in and agree a date with you before we leave.

  4. We will provide you with a Landlord’s Gas Safety Record to prove that the work’s been done.

What do you need to do?

  1. When we contact you about your gas safety check, you must arrange an appointment with us. It is a legal requirement for us to complete a gas safety check, and a condition of your tenancy that you allow access for us to complete it.

  2. Once we have confirmed an appointment, it is important that you are in on the agreed date and time to provide our engineer access so they can complete the safety check.

  3. If you have a pre-payment meter, it is important that there is credit on the meter when we complete the check.
