Housing provider Sanctuary has announced plans to demolish the derelict Watts Grove development site in Bow.

The site has been sitting empty since the incident that occurred on 8 July 2020.

Sanctuary is now submitting plans to Tower Hamlets Borough Council to demolish some of the existing structures.

Peter Martin, Sanctuary Managing Director: Asset, Strategy and Development, said, “While we understand and acknowledge the local sensitivities relating to the site, we cannot allow it to remain empty as it is falling into disrepair, and this work is necessary to ensure continued site safety.

“This is a positive step forward for the local community and we are working closely with local stakeholders to ensure the successful planning and management of these proposals, as well as discussing future options for the site.”
